We start our trek in Tilcara, archaeological capital of La Quebrada de Humahuaca, at 2500 meters a.s.l. The departure hour is at 10:00 AM and, after loading the llamas with our bags and food, we follow a trail used by the pilgrims in Easter time. Half way to our destination we have lunch under the shade on the Ravine of Punta Corral’s river. Our final destination is Zanjas, we arrive at 5 PM and meet the Martinez family, members of the local community. The trek is about 8 km. (5 miles) and there is a difference of 500 meters (a.s.l.) with Tilcara. The country has about 1500 ha. and we can find interesting features such as small cascades, colored mountains, prehispanic crop terraces and archeological sites.
